Dear friends and colleagues,
We are pleased to share with you the Summer 2026 edition of The Porvenir Times. This past month has been a vibrant and memorable one at the International College of Seville, as our summer students made the most of their intensive program through cultural visits, cooking classes, excursions, and everyday life in the city.
In this edition, we look back on some of the highlights of the term, including our guided visit to the Seville Cathedral, our Spanish cooking sessions featuring mixed paella and fruity sangría, and our summer trips to Córdoba and Morocco. We are also delighted to share this month’s Student Corner, My Return to Sevilla, written by Mia Sturm of Augustana College, who reflects on her experience returning to Seville in a new role and with a new perspective. The issue concludes with a look back at our Summer Farewell Party, where we celebrated the end of an unforgettable term with a truly wonderful group of students.
As always, we are grateful to our students, staff, professors, and host families for helping make each session at ICS so meaningful. We hope you enjoy reading this edition of The Porvenir Times and revisiting some of the moments that made this summer so special.
We also look ahead with excitement to the Fall semester, when we will welcome a new group of students to Seville in September.

First Stop: Downtown, Boat Cruise and the Cathedral
Our summer students got off to an unforgettable start with a first look at the heart of Seville. From exploring the city center and enjoying a boat cruise along the Guadalquivir to visiting the magnificent Cathedral, these first activities offered a wonderful introduction to the history, beauty, and energy of life in Seville.

Spanish Cooking Class
Our students had a wonderful time learning to prepare two Spanish favorites: mixed paella and fruity sangría. These cooking classes were a fun and delicious way to experience local culture, and we are especially grateful to our housemoms, Esther Gil and Rocío Albéniz, for making the experience so memorable.
Summer Trip: Córdoba
Our day trip to Córdoba gave students the opportunity to explore one of the most beautiful and historically rich cities in Spain. From the extraordinary Mosque-Cathedral to the charming streets of the old Jewish quarter, the visit offered a memorable glimpse into the history, architecture, and cultural legacy of Al Andalus.

The trips don't stop there… Hello, Morocco!
Our three-day journey to Morocco was one of the most unforgettable experiences of the summer. Students traveled through Tangier, Tetouan, and Chefchaouen, enjoying an incredible mix of history, culture, and adventure. From an authentic Moroccan Fantasy dinner to a camel ride along the coast of Cape Spartel, it was truly a trip to remember.
Student Corner: My Return to Seville
In My Return to Sevilla, Mia Sturm reflects on what it has been like to come back to ICS not only as a former student, but now as an intern. Her piece explores the lessons she has learned through both experiences, especially the importance of self-awareness, balance, adaptability, and letting go of expectations. It is a thoughtful and honest reflection on how study abroad can continue shaping a person long after the semester ends.
Summer Farewell Party
Our Summer 2026 term came to a close with a wonderful farewell celebration for a truly special group of students. It was the perfect way to reflect on the memories made throughout the program and to enjoy one last evening together in Seville. Although goodbyes are never easy, the party was a joyful and memorable ending to an unforgettable summer.
