A Welcome message from the ICS Team

As President and Founder of the International College of Seville, Dr. Juan Durá has spent over four decades successfully integrating U.S. academics with local Spanish culture. He earned his Master’s and Ph.D. in U.S. Diplomatic History at UC Berkeley, solidifying a formidable U.S. connection that first started as a track champion at Chico State. After teaching across California, he returned to Seville to launch ICS, building an enduring legacy of countless alumni who have found a second home in Spain.

A former Vice President of APUNE and a respected leader in international education, Sandra Soto Delgado drives the academic vision at ICS. Her qualifications span two continents: from her studies at Sweet Briar College and work with a UN affiliate in New England, to her Master’s degree and ongoing Ph.D. research at the University of Seville. As Academic Dean, she draws on this top-tier, cross-cultural background to set our rigorous academic standards and guide students through their immersion in Andalusia.

A cornerstone of the ICS executive team since 1988, Director of Student Affairs Lisa Dolan oversees the strategic well-being and cultural integration of our students. She directs the immersive experiences that turn a semester abroad into a profound transformation, ensuring every student finds a true home in Andalusia. Originally from Long Island, she graduated with honors in International Relations from Slippery Rock University and brings a strong multilingual background to the campus. Having navigated her own study abroad experiences in Japan and Seville, Lisa uses her firsthand knowledge to guide the next generation through their own cultural transition.

For over three decades, Director of Housing Gina de los Santos has been dedicated to ensuring students find a true home in Seville. A Long Island native born to a local Spanish father and an American mother, she understands cross-cultural immersion firsthand. Before making Seville her permanent home in 1994, Gina proved her academic excellence by graduating summa cum laude and class Valedictorian from SUNY Stony Brook. Today, she uses that lifelong bicultural expertise to anchor our students in the city.

Directing global outreach for the institution, Claudia connects international universities with ICS programs. Holding a Master’s in Geopolitics from Carlos III University of Madrid, the dual U.S. and Spanish citizen brings an extensive background in financial reporting to the campus. After years spent promoting international economies alongside Newsweek and USA Today across four continents, returning home to Seville meant turning that high-level global perspective toward guiding university partnerships.

Having first arrived in Seville as a Texas Tech University study abroad student, Director of Student Welfare Ian Green intimately understands the transition into Spanish life. That initial experience led to a long lasting relationship with a local host mother, now considered his «Spanish abuela», weekly dinner companion, and inspired a permanent move to Andalusia. Holding a Master in Organizational Psychology from the University of Seville, his background in teaching and managing U.S. education teams directly supports ICS students through orientation, cultural activities, and daily care, ensuring everyone finds their own community abroad.

Blending a deep bicultural perspective with twenty years of dedicated campus service, Librarian Javier Durá Osa cultivates a comfortable, focused study environment inside the historic villa. Having studied at Chico State and Butte Community College in California, a firsthand knowledge of the American academic system directly supports students navigating their own cultural transitions. Outside the Library, active work as a musician and artist adds an approachable, warm dynamic to the daily campus environment.
