El Camino de Santiago Short-Term Program
A Life Changing Adventure Awaits You
Join a unique academic and physical journey along the Camino de Santiago, a historic Christian pilgrimage route crossing the Iberian Peninsula and culminating in Santiago de Compostela. Over 15 days and 305 km, students will experience the Camino firsthand—on foot—while engaging deeply with its geography, history, and culture.
Our adventure begins at the International College of Seville, where weekly in-class/virtual Spring semester sessions explore the Camino’s sacred and secular histories, from medieval pilgrimages to modern “tourigrinos.” We’ll also examine themes of travel, faith, and identity, and prepare physically and logistically for the trek. This is a unique program that is adaptable to all students’ interests and availability. This program can be paired with the Spring Semester or the Summer Instensive term. They also have the option to participate in the 15 day pilgrimage and join the weekly in-class lessons virtually or asynchronously during the Spring semester.
Shortly after the end of the Spring semester, students participating in the program will travel from Seville to León where we will begin our journey. Each day, we’ll hike roughly~25 km, visit historical and cultural sites, reflect in daily discussions, and keep a multimedia pilgrim’s journal. Check out the full Camino itinerary included below.
For many, the Camino is a life-changing experience. This class offers a chance to reflect, challenge yourself, and earn college credit while walking one of the world’s most iconic routes.
The ICS team was inspired to create a program that offers this experience to our students because of all our amazing alumni that sought out and organized this life altering experience for themselves. Check out ICS Fall 2024 student Rodrigo Filio’s recent experience completing his own pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago and get inspired to join us in 2026.
